Welcome to Ladybirds & Butterflies- the Secret Garden's Baby Unit The baby unit is run by our deputy manager Diane who has been working at the nursery for over 10 years. She is ably supported by our floor manager Katie, and her team of Chantell, Cally, Darren & Josie, all of whom are loved by our children. Our baby unit caters for up to 21 children aged from 6 weeks to 2 years, and is separated into two different areas for children depending on their age & abilities. Each side has separate areas for eating, messy play, soft play and rest. We also make full use of our outdoor play area whenever the weather permits! Because a child's early years are fundamental in their development, we provide a wide range of materials, resources and equipment, through which even our youngest children can develop their visual, aural and physical skills. The staff have been chosen especially for their skills and dedication to the provision of care appropriate for very young babies, ensuring they have sufficient one to one time, and an appropriate balance of play, sensory stimulation and rest. |

Our Ladybirds room is for those children not yet walking or toddling, and contains a wealth of early years toys and books to stimulate your child's imagination. Our staff involve the children in reading, singing and other activities which encourage them to engage with other children in a fun environment. At the end of the day, our staff are always on hand to give you full details of your child's day, and will be happy to discuss with you any particular aspect of your child's care. |
Once the child has taken their first few tentative steps they can move through to the Buterflies room. Here, the focus is on toddlers taking those first few steps and learning to get around under their own steam. Again the staff are highly trained, and the focus moves towards structured play including movement to music, painting and drawing and contributing to our nursery display boards. There are more tables in this area for table top activities, a quiet area, a dressing up area, and lots of space to practise those newly acquired toddling skills. This area is designed for more lively activity, and the children have access to sand, water and other materials for creative work. |
